stmarysCentral Baptist 61 St. Mary's 32

The Lady Bison finally had their first game of the season against Central Baptist. After several cancelations, these girls were a little nervous but ready to see what they could do. They came out strong in the first quarter and kept it close throughout the first half but after dealing with strong pressure from the other team they quickly fell behind.

Kioney Alvira-Juardo led the team both as the point guard and as our leading scorer with a total of 24 points. Elise Watson was a major help both offensively and defensively and Emma Foster came out strong as an aggressive but controlled defender. Though the score says they lost, they’ve really learned to play as a team and no one left the court as discouraged as they could have. (Contributed by Head Coach Wendy Chuba)

Both basketball teams were not used to playing more than one games so they were tired. Thankfully, they had one day of rest yesterday because they needed it from playing hard and lack of sleep. We played against KSD and GSD more than once because Illinois School for the Deaf were unable to come due to their weather conditions.
