USA continues its march towards Pan Am championship

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL: June 22, 2012-- Utilizing its deep bench and balanced scoring attack, the United States rolled over Canada in the men’s basketball semifinal match last night, 96-37. With the win, the United States advances to the gold medal match against Venezuela and has secured an automatic berth from the Pan American confederation for the 2013 Summer Deaflympics. USA seeded #1 with victory

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL: June 20 2012 – The United States sailed past Brazil in the final game of the preliminary round, defeating the host country 91-38. With the win, USA secured the #1 seed entering the medal round.  

USA’s quickness, power inside the paint and defensive focus quickly took its toll on Brazil and their ability to compete against the Americans. The United States jumped out on a 26-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Read full story.

USA gets past Argentina

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL: June 19, 2012 – Led by the double digit scoring efforts by three United States players, USA defeated a physical Argentina team 88-71 last night. Jeremias Valencia paced the scoring for the red, white and blue with 25 points and three assists. Jonathan Valencia tossed in 16 points and led the team with six assists. Jason Coleman rounded out the scoring effort for USA with 10 points and led with eight rebounds.  Read full story.

Venezuela falls to USA

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL: 17 June 2012 –Behind a dominant performance from Jonathan Valencia, the United States never lost its poise in a close game over Venezuela, the #2 ranked team in the world, winning over their Pan American rivals, 76-67. Valencia finished with 25 points and five rebounds.

Trailing by five points in the opening quarter, 20-15, the United States outscored Venezuela in the second quarter with a strong performance in the paint and took the lead with 42-40 at halftime. Read full story.

USA cruises past Mexico

PRAIA GRANDE, BRAZIL: 16 June 2012 – Behind a balanced scoring effort from all players on the roster, the USA Deaf Men’s Basketball team cruised past Mexico 100-27 in the second game for both teams at the 5th Pan American Games for the Deaf in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

With six players scoring in double digits, the win improved the United States to 2-0 heading into a crucial matchup against the #2 ranked team in the world, Venezuela. USA is ranked #3 behind Venezuela. Read full story.
