Leaders solidifies lead at US Deaf Golf Championships

2015 USDGCThe third round of the United States Deaf Golf Championships (USDGC) at the Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Maryland saw some separation in the men’s division. Two-time USDGC champion Brandon Babineaux shot 75 for the second straight day to increase his lead over second place Michael Mabashov by three strokes. Babineaux leads the men division at 226 and Mabashov scored 77 for a total of 229. Justin “Pono” Tokioka moved up two spots from fifth place in a tie with Eric Brumm, Jr. with a 77. Burmm finished the day with 81 and both are at 235. Jay Stally scored 86 to bring his three-day total to 242 and currently sits at fifth place.

Patricia Lopez has dominated the women’s division and finished the day with a 74 and a three-day score of 234. Laura Ponikiweski shot 88 to move up to second place with 273 and Susan Zupnik fell to third with 93 and 275 total. There have been no changes in the fourth and fifth place slots. Mary Bachtel remains in fourth with a 96 and 283 total and Melissa Stockton had 95 and 289 total.

Bill Roberts is the only player in the senior division to score in the 70’s in all rounds thus far and scored 76 today for the division’s best total score of 227. Keith Worek made a huge leap today moving up from fifth place to second place with the day’s best score of 75 and 241 total. John Rush is also tied for second moving up from fourth place with 77 and 241 total. Timothy Dapp fell to fourth place from second with an 82 and one stroke behind second place at 242. David Ramirez rounds out the top five with an 85 and 248 total.

The USDGC tournament concludes tomorrow with the fourth and final round. The third round results from today are listed below.
