US Deaf Golf Championships start with a crowded field in Men's Division

2015 USDGCThe first round of the United States Deaf Golf Championships (USDGC) at the Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Maryland ended this afternoon with a crowded field for the top five spots in the men’s division.

Michael Mabashov and Jay Stally sit in first place tied with 75. With just one stroke back at 76, Brandon Babineaux and Eric Brumm, Jr. are tied for third. David Wantuck rounds out the top five at 78.

Patricia Lopez has already separated herself from the field in the women’s division shooting 78. Susan Zupnik ended the day in second place 10 strokes behind at 88 and Melissa Stockton finished with 90 for the third place spot. Laura Ponikiweski scored 93 and Mary Batchel had 95 for the top five spots.

Bill Roberts had the day’s best score with 74 and the first place slot in the men’s seniors division. David Ramirez is in second place being two strokes back at 76. Timothy Dapp shot 81 for third and John Rush had 83 for the fourth spot. Gerald Isobe and Keith Worek tied at 84 for the 5th place spot.

The USDGC tournament continues tomorrow with the second round and the first day’s from today can be viewed below.
