Michael Lizarraga continues pro basketball career in Mexico

Mazatlan NauticosThe season may have ended on a sour note for Michael Lizarraga and his Mazatlan Nauticos teammates, but the Dixon native and deaf professional basketball player continues to march at the beat of his own drum.

Known as “The Great One” by both friends and aspiring basketball players out on the Northwest Park blacktop in Dixon — where he’s logged hundreds of hours and thousands of jumpers — Lizarraga, 28, has excelled post-college in Mexico’s Cibacopa League where his team fell 102-94 in game seven of their second round playoff matchup Saturday against the Obregon Falcons.
